The Miami Dolphins are going to the playoffs! And not just in video game form this year, but for realsies! In a surprising, and scary game against Buffalo, Miami rallied behind a last second, 55 yard, game tying field goal from the unreliable Andrew Franks to force the contest into overtime, and then leaned on the 200 yard man, Jay Ajayi, to run them into the red zone and have Franks kick a game winner to secure Miami’s 10th win, and combined with Denver’s loss to Kansas City on Christmas Night, propelled The Dolphins into the AFC playoffs.
But who and where, they play in the Wildcard round, is still to be determined. IF they are the 6th seed, they will play The Steelers in Pittsburgh. If they manage to get the 5th seed, they will travel west to play the Houston Texans. Either way, Miami is in, so the real question is if they play their starters for the slim chance that they can move their playoff seeding around? Or do they rest their key players and treat week 17 against the Patriots, as a bye week? Adam Gase has already stated that the starters will be playing, but he gave no indication on how long they would play.
Plus, we take the time machine back to 2008 to remember what else was happening in the world the last time Miami qualified for the playoffs. What songs were popular? What movie won the Academy Award for Best Picture? And was Travis WIngfield even old enough to drink back then?
And as always, The Dallas Thomas Award, Ridiculous Predictions (with a special listener submission), A Second On The AFC East, and The Phinjury Report, as well as a majorly major announcement about the show/website in Overtime.
