Episode 168: Misery Loves Company AGAIN (MIA vs JAX)

This Week:

The Miami Dolphins lose AGAIN to an AFC East opponent. This time it was The Buffalo Bills. The defense gave up 31 points and over 400 yards PASSING to Josh Allen. JOSH ALLEN! Despite the porous defense, The Dolphins held a lead late and only lost by four points to the team most likely to win the AFC East this season.

So what went right? What went wrong? Is Mike Gesicki the best tight end in Miami history already? Did DeVante Parker get off of Sam’s “soft” list? If so, which receiver took his place? All this and more when Sam and Chris recap the week that was.

Plus, Miami may be 0-2 to start the season, but they aren’t the only team with a sad sack fan base to start the season. What other teams join Miami in Dolphins the chair of despair with the return of Misery Loves Company?

And of course, The Miami Dolphins are coming off of a short week as they travel to Jacksonville to play The Jaguars on Thursday Night Football. Can Miami beat the trend and win on the road on a Thursday night? Or will the lack of time between games hurt them to the point of no return? Chris and Sam discuss and explain why this game is more important than most people probably think and give their officially official predictions for the game.

And last but not least, an update on the MOST OKAY-IST FANTASY LEAGUE EVER!

Episode 165: Cut Down Day

This Week:

The Miami Dolphins will soon have less players. That is because cut down day is coming! Yay! While Chris and Sam may find the news that comes out that day to be exciting, lots of soon to be former) players do not. Regardless, we take a look at who is 100% safe from being cut this weekend, where Miami might look for help from other teams’ cut players, and whether or not any major surprises are in store for the team.

Speaking of surprises, Miami continues to chrun their roster as they trade away starting linebacker Raekwon McMillan to The Raiders, get Kalen Ballage BACK from The Jets after a failed physical and field calls for offers on Josh Rosen. As we always say, Miami may not be the best team in football, but they may be the most interesting.

Plus, we talk all things Buffalo Bills. Are they the team to beat this year in the AFC East? Is Josh Allen the right QB to get them to the promised land? Is the addition of Stefon Diggs a good thing? Why is their logo a buffalo when their mascot is a bill?

Oh, plus Chris Cullen gives us the inside scoop as to how the conversation went with Bob Griese when Miami told him he was being replaced with Jason Taylor.

And last but not least, THE OKAY-IST FANTASY LEAGUE EVER is drafting LIVE throughout the show. Yay football! Yay Fantasy Football! Yay Perfectville!

Episode 164: Paying for Free Costco Samples

The Miami Dolphins makes some surprising roster decisions this week. Did they do well? Or will they live to regret it?

Episode 163: Miami Dolphins Football is back and better than ever!

This Week:

Miami Dolphins football is back! With pads, helmets and everything! Which means we discuss everything, as a result. Analysis of our quarterbacks, season ending injuries, and much more.

Early reports on Tua’s first week in full pads are conflicting. Some reporters say he looks perfectly fine, while others appear to hint that he is struggling. In related news, Josh Rosen appears to be looking quite well in his second year with Miami. Or maybe he isn’t. It really depends on which tweet you believe.

What IS true is that outside linebacker Vince Biegel is gone for the season with a brutal achilles tendon tear. His absence will be noticed more in the locker room than on the stat sheet, but the journeyman defender will be missed all the same. The guys discuss the impact Vince has had on this team since he arrived, and what the future holds for the team and the player.

Additionally, Xavien Howard does not appear ready to go for Miami. Coach Flores even went as far as to say that the cornerback spot we assumed was Xavien’s is officially up for competition. Are X’s days in Miami numbered? Did The Dolphins miss out on premium draft capitol by not trading him prior to the NFL Draft?

And finally, why do the New England Patriots continue to get a pass by the media about their awful behavior? They have cheated their way to six Super Bowl titles, and now appear to be tanking the 2020 season in an effort to improve their draft spot in next year’s Trevor Lawrence Sweepstakes. As a result, the sports media appears to be just fine with these developments despite crucifying Miami a year ago.

Plus, we have breaking news on the OKAY-IST FANTASY LEAGUE EVER!

Episode 159: Painful Predictions

This Week:

As we roll into the final week before the NFL Draft, Sam and Chris find themselves fully embracing the quarantined life. Unshaven faces, Dolphins shirts being worn for days on end, and of course, wild imaginations that lead to the boys doing Painful Predictions.

What, you might ask, are Painful Predictions? Well, they are predictions that have consequences. And on this episode, these predictions and consequences have to do with the upcoming NFL Draft. Both Sam and Chris predict what will happen and the other one rolls out an appropriate consequence if it goes wrong. Fun!

Plus, the boys announce that they will stream Perfectville LIVE during the entire first round next week on Sam’s Instagram feed, which you can click on here . Live reactions to everything the Miami Dolphins do (or don’t do) and a chance for the Citizens to talk with us in real time! Hooray!

Speaking of weirdness, Chris Cullen sings a sad song about his friends in Quarantined Places. This entire episode is chalk full of awesome for all of you.

Episode 106: RIP Tony Sparano

perfectvilleitunes

This Week:

Sad news in Perfectville, as former Head Coach, Tony Sparano, passed away over this past weekend. Best known for his ability to motivate his players through fiery speeches and a sideline demeanor that endeared him to dol-fans throughout the world. He remains the only coach to lead an AFC East team to a division title in the past 15 years years not named Bill Belichick. Sam and Chris discuss their favorite memories of Sparano, and what his legacy as a Miami Dolphins head coach, should ultimately be.

sparano pump

The boys also tackle the National Anthem issue as it has once again, bubbled to the surface of the NFL news cycle. This time, with the Miami Dolphins making headlines. What does the team policy actually say? Who leaked the policy? And why does kneeling potentially hold  greater penalty than what Jameis Winston is facing?

On Greatest Dol-Fails in Miami History, Tom Brady and Wes Welker hook up for a 99 1/2 yard touchdown against The Dolphins on a Monday Night Football game to open the season.

On 3 & Out, the boys discuss Saquan Barkley’s new contract, Jimmy Garappolo’s claim that he feels he is BETTER than Tom Brady, and is Joe Flacco in danger of losing his job in Baltimore?

Episode 104: O.T. YAYS!

OTYAYS

The Miami Dolphins are back! Well…sort of. Organized Team Activities or OTAs are in full swing and starting Quarterback Ryan Tannehill is not only participating fully, but doing so WITHOUT A KNEE BRACE, turning the OTAs into OTYAYS for Dol-fans everywhere. Sam and Chris discuss the significance of Ryan coming back without the brace, whether or not this is somewhat of a publicity stunt, and what the polarizing quarterback would need to adjust to if and when he finally straps one on.

Plus, another future Hall of Fame running back, Adrian Peterson recently suggested that he may take his talents to South Beach. Despite Adrian’s possible interest in the Fins, does the team have any interest in adding another veteran to a backfield that already has Frank Gore in it? If you had to choose between Peterson and Gore, which one would the Citizens of Perfectville choose, and why?

Plus, more talk about the skill position players on offense, more customer reviews for us to read on air, Chris reveals what board games he plays the most, and we launch our official Facebook page for the show. Yay? Yay.

Episode 103: B.F.F.B.

bffb

On this episode of Perfectville, Sam and Chris are visited, once again, by three star reviewer, TRSears, who left yet ANOTHER review of our show on Apple Podcasts. This time? He takes aim at fellow citizen, Phinzler.

Additionally, Ryan Tannehill has been cleared for any and all football activities without limitations! The much maligned starting quarterback for the Miami Dolphins continues to have to prove himself to pundits, experts and fans alike. Recent social media rankings have Ryan at the bottom of the league, as far as projected starting quarterbacks go. Chris and Sam discuss and tell you why these rankings are nonsense.

And finally, we re-visit the draft one last time to bring you audio recorded live from Chris’s man-cave where he, his wife, his brother and his father react to the NEw York JEts pick of Sam Darnold, The Bills trade up for Josh Allen, and of course, Miami’s pick of Minkah Fitzpatrick.

And quite possibly, the creation of the perfect shirt for Perfectville happens on this trip!

Episode 96: Front Office Review

frontoffice

Sam is back from his comedy tour, and Chris is back from his nationwide fireside chats! And since both are back in the friendly confines of Perfectville, they have decided to discuss the front office of the Miami Dolphins. Who is really calling the shots on player personnel? Who is to blame for some of the high price, low return free agents the team has signed in recent years? And what, exactly, does Chris Grier DO?

Plus, has there ever been an NFL owner that has gone from zero to hero faster than Stephen Ross? And if we gave you three guesses as to how old Mike Tannenbaum is, could you get it right?

Oh, and as we close in on episode 100, keep in mind that the PHINZEES are coming back! Yay!

Episode 88: There Is No Such Thing As A Dolphanther

dolphanther

After another embarrassing loss on national television, The Miami Dolphins drop to 4-5 on the season and 1-10 in their last 11 prime time games. The team gave up roughly 5 billion yards on the ground to a bad running offense in the Carolina Panthers. The loss left the team, the coaches and all the Citizens of Perfectville demoralized.

But on the bright side, Kenyan Drake DID score the team’s first rushing touchdown on the season! That’s a good thing, right? Right?!?!?!

Unfortunately, Perfectville’s own Chris Cullen was at this Monday Nightmare and managed to live long enough to talk about it. Not only did he suffer this loss in person, but his tailgate party beforehand wasn’t much better.

Welcome To The NFaiL

Additionally, Sam looks to induct The New York Giants Fanba-BUT IS INTERRUPTED BY CHRIS WHO TAKES OVER THE SEGMENT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY.

The Wheel of Whatever

As always, our trusty wheel spins us into whatever direction it wants.  This week it twirls us to Dallas and “Jerry Land” this week, as the NFL and Roger Goodell square off against one of the most iconic and powerful figures in the sports’ history. Can the NFL survive without Jerry Jones? Would Jerry Jones allow that to happen?

Episode 82: #FTJ! Dolphins vs Jets Preview

FTJPreview

It is #FTJ Week! Which means it is time for Adam Gase and The Miami Dolphins to fly to New Jersey and remove the spirit of J-E-T-S fans, everywhere. New York’s AFC football team is dead last in points allowed and rushing yards allowed, while not being much better on the offensive side of the ball.

So what is there to look forward to against a tanking team that happens to be one of our biggest rivalry? Winning, of course.

Which players on offense are poised to have a big day? Who on our defense is Chris and Sam most looking forward to redeeming themselves against this awful New York football team?

Episode 55: Rustling Our Jimmies (Wildcard Weekend Review @ Pittsburgh)

wildcardreview

Miami’s dreams of a Cinderella run at the Super Bowl struck midnight in chilly Pittsburgh, as the whole world watched them turn into a fat pumpkin on national television. The Dolphins were handed their receipt from the Steelers, in the form of a 30-12 drubbing that saw Le’Veon Bell run wild, Antonio Brown catching everything but an STD and Matt Moore dropping the ball, and his chin, on the frozen turf of Heinz Field.

Despite the depressing end to the season, Dol-fans everywhere have reason to celebrate their favorite football squad on a successful and surprising playoff run by rookie Head Coach, Adam Gase and his merry band of One-Percenters. Overcoming injuries to their starting quarterback, Pro Bowl safety, linebackers, and All-Pro center (and more), the marine mammals of Miami managed to post double digits wins and extend their games into the postseason.

And due to that success, some members of the staff are already finding new homes of their own as Defensive Coordinator Vance Joseph has accepted the job as Head Coach for the Denver Broncos. What does his departure mean for the players? Will Adam Gase promote form within? Or will he recruit a bigger name to run that side of the ball while he continues to focus on the offense?

Plus, what did Vance Joseph due to “rustle Chris’s jimmies” before the playoff game in Pittsburgh? And when will we know what is actually going on with Ryan Tannehill’s knee?!?!?! Additionally, we give out the last Dallas Thomas Awards EVER, and as always, we spend A Second On The AFC East.

Episode Five: The Offensive Line

offensiveline

The Miami Dolphins had a historically bad offensive line in 2015. Awful in run blocking and terrible in pass blocking. Injury after injury and a depth pool so shallow that even Jesus’s friends could walk across it. Sam and Chris discuss what can be done to help fix in in time for the 2016 NFL season. Free agency? Draft? Trade? All options are explored, including a certain former number one pick returning to the fold, or maybe even making up with a former bully.

Plus, Chris shares an embarrassing story about his mother and we laugh at her expense. Sorry Chris’s mom.
